  I Want More Anti-SPAM Protection

If you would like to control the spam filters for your domain, please ask your mail administrator to add the following lines to the domain processing rules exactly as shown. To access the domain processing rules via the web administrator, login with the admin userid and password. From there click the drop down Administrative Account Options and go to Domain Processing Rules. Click the add rule link on the left hand side. Select Field: Header, and the radio button for contains. From there insert one of the rules listed below for example: X-IMAIL-SPAM-STATISTICS. Click on Add condition.

The phrase moves to the rules section. From there select to "Delete" or "Move to." The "Move to" message will require that you type the name of the folder in "Destination" that you want messages moved to, for spam you can move it to the spam folder. After you make a selection click Finish.

Remember there is no perfect spam filter, and the more filters you add, the more likely a legitimate message will be filtered (false positive)

  1. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-STATISTICS
This rule will will delete or move (based on the rule specified above) mail from senders where the total spam statistics generated by scanning the message is over 85%.

  2. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-PHRASE
This rule will delete or move (based on the rule specified above) mail from senders where words in the body of a message match a phrase from the spam-phrases list maintained on the server.

  3. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-HTML-FEATURES
This rule will delete or move (based on the rule specified above) mail from sender where the email contains embedded comments in the HTML code use to generate the mail. This is a favorite technique among spammers as you cannot see anything different about the message until you view the source.

  4. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALREVDNS
A reverse DNS lookup is done using the address of the connecting SMTP agent. If the address does not resolve to a name, the message is identified as spam

  5. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALHELO
Performs a DNS query for the domain passed in the HELO/EHLO command. An "A" record or "MX" record must exist for the domain in question, or the mail is identified as spam.

  6. Header contains X-IMAIL-SPAM-URL-DBL
IMail Server extracts the primary domain from an http link to determine if the domain name is in the URL Domain Black List. It does this by looking for domains that are used in HREF and IMG SRC tags in the HTML code. If the primary domain matches any of the domain names in the URL Domain Black List, the e-mail is considered spam.

Any / all of these features are currently available with our Imail server's spam prevention services.
